Indiana Jones and the Temple of Senility

So, the long-rumored Indiana Jones sequel starts filming next year.  After the debacle of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, I’m … wary.  But I do hope George Lucas seizes this opportunity to show off his visual effects prowess by erasing Harrison Ford’s manboobs from every frame.  (They’re going to jiggle every time Indy runs!)

Who all seen the leprechaun, say yeah!

This is several months old, but I had to share this little piece of local news heaven:

The leprechaun has just replaced “the whistle goes woo!” as my favorite YouTube clip ever.

A glimpse of Austen awesomeness

The incomparable AustenBlog tracked down a preview of the new TV adaptations of Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, and Persuasion:

These are U.K. productions, so who knows when they’ll end up stateside, but I can’t wait, particularly for Persuasion. Captain Wentworth looks way fine.

Just taking a moment to gloat that my The Amazing Race team, the addicts/models, actually won! I picked these guys out way back in July, so even if they’ve got the prize money … I’ve got the glory.

Veronica Mars on iTunes!

Finally! Veronica Mars is available for download on iTunes! If you haven’t watched the show before, but you think it might be for you, definitely check it out.

My advice, though (and I dearly love to give advice), is to rent the season one DVD, which is without question one of the best seasons of television ever. My personal strategy to hook in newcomers is to have them watch episodes one through five in a marathon, let them watch six through ten at their own pace, and then by ten, the new viewers will usually agree to stay up all night and finish out the season. It’s that good.

Friday Night Lights brings Tuesday Night Excitement!

December 5, 2006 at 2:27 am | Posted in Friday Night Lights, TV News | 1 Comment

I love Friday Night Lights. I love Kyle Chandler as world’s greatest football coach/dad. I love Connie Britton as Cool Mom. I love Scott Porter as heartbreakingly wonderful, tragically wheelchair-bound Jason Street. I love the cliche-ridden, yet inspiring football games.

But what do I love most? That’s easy: TV’s Most Awkward Couple, Matt Saracen and Julie Taylor. Matt’s the endearingly goofy rookie quarterback, and Julie’s the sweetly cynical coach’s daughter. Matt likes Julie, Julie might like Matt, and their socially inept interactions are comedy gold.

NBC’s promos for tonight’s episode show Matt and Julie kissing! Eeek! My plans for tonight are as follows:

1. Watch Friday Night Lights.
2. Rewind kissing scene and watch five more times.
3. Giggle.
4. Repeat.
