Michael Vartan, I miss you so

Oh, this just makes me upset. Apparently Michael Vartan (currently occupying Spot Number One on my Top Ten list) almost joined the cast of one of Michael Ausiello’s “five current favorite shows.” This makes a lot of sense, since Michael Vartan was the subject of a huge pilot season bidding war according to the New York Times. I really miss not seeing him on TV every week … but which show? Can’t be Friday Night Lights, I seriously doubt it’s Battlestar Galactica, and I don’t think Ausiello digs Studio 60. Probably not ER, Veronica Mars, or Gilmore Girls … could it have been Grey’s Anatomy? Now that would have been amazing. Ah, what might have been.

Updated: More from Ausiello:

Question: You are such a tease, Ausiello! What show was Michael Vartan going to join (Ausiello Report 10/27)?!— Joseph Conner

Ausiello: One of the producers on this show worked with Vartan on his last TV gig.

So, that makes it either Lost or Heroes. Or am I forgetting another show with Alias alums? Brothers and Sisters?

  1. I sympathise with you as Michael Vartan is my number 1 favourite star of all time and I only watched Alias because of him. I would prefer to see Michael Vartan on the big silver screen and am looking forward to seeing him in movies many times over.

  2. I bet it was Lost. There’s the J.J. Abrams connection (and you know he likes to cast people in multiple projects of his…just look at Greg Grunberg), and Ausiello definitely likes the show.

  3. Oooh, I forgot Lost, that’s an awesome theory. Damn, he would have made such a hot castaway. Hopefully Ausiello will drop another hint. As for movies vs. TV, I love seeing Vartan on the big screen, but you just get so much more of him on TV — 22 hours versus 90 minutes. I vote TV.

  4. I was thinking it was Lost, though adding him to Brothers and Sisters would be good too(although a fairly large Alias reunion).

  5. Michael Vartan has not sought out any TV roles but was asked to join the cast of B&S and promptly turned the offer down.

  6. Michael Vartan is my hero his the most cutest guy in America.Love you Michael take care.
