Mitchell Hurwitz is back

Mitchell Hurwitz, creator of Arrested Development, is doing an American version of the British comedy In the Thick of It.  I should be jumping for joy at this news, since In the Thick of It is hilarious and so was Arrested Development, but … I’m nervous.  Unlike Arrested Development’s surrealism, this show is sort of like The Office, in that it’s documentary-style with a bumbling idiot for a main character, and very grounded in reality, but with a caustic, almost cynical take on things.  Plus, it’s centered around a cabinet minister, and I wonder how that’s going to translate — will the U.S. version have a fictional Secretary of Social Relations or something?  I guess I’ll just have to trust Mitch.  Mark me down as cautiously optimistic.
