Burstyn-gate in The Hollywood Reporter

The Hollywood Reporter (yay, a trade!) has picked up the Burstyn-gate story. I was wrong about one thing: apparently her Emmy-nominated performance was only 14 seconds long, not 15 as previously stated. The Emmys are a sham, I tell you, a sham!

I know this all seems a little petty, but I’m just so sick of fantastic shows like Veronica Mars and Battlestar Galactica getting ignored year after year, and totally bullshit performances and programs getting nominated instead. The Emmys simply don’t do what they’re purported to do; that is, recognize excellence and validate quality. So, programs that should be considered “prestige” television aren’t, and so then no one watches those programs, and then those programs get canceled. And then people give me crap for watching a show on UPN (or Sci-Fi) that doesn’t even have the Emmy-nominated stamp of approval. In conclusion: the Emmys are lame.
